Town of Smithfield employees are the essential component in the Town's ability to provide quality services to the community. The Human Resources Department strives to locate qualified personnel to meet the requirements of vacant positions.

The Town of Smithfield is an Equal Opportunity/ADA Employer and provides a drug-free workplace. The Town wants to ensure the safety and health of all current and future employees. For this reason, all candidates who are made "Conditional Offers of Employment" are required to submit to a limited physical exam, urinary drug screen, criminal background history check, driver’s license history check, and (if required for position) credit history checks before receiving a notification of probationary employment to begin work. Application Instructions: Currently there are three ways to receive one of the Town's applications:

  1. Download and print the application on this site and submit;
  2. Contact the Human Resources Department to receive an application by mail; or
  3. Pick up an application at the Town Hall Building.

Please contact Debbie Godwin, Human Resources Director/Town Clerk, with any questions you may have regarding employment with the Town of Smithfield.
