Police Department - Officers: S.C.E.T.

The Special Criminal Enforcement team of the Department is made up of four part-time officers from the Patrol and Investigative teams. These officers, all with other full-time duties, are assigned to work special enforcement duties on all major roadways and Interstate 95 that run through Smithfield.

These officers focus on such violations as speeding, reckless and aggressive driving, following too closely, equipment violations, and other detected criminal violations. Special enforcement activities on Interstate 95 are worked in cooperation with the Selma Police Department. This partnership allows for the pooling of manpower and resources to address criminal activity facing our towns.
