Hurricane Florence Update
Please visit our website at www.smithfield-nc.com and follow us Twitter and Facebook for updates. Please post and share photos/videos.
We hope that all citizens are safe now and in the coming days. Please see the following updates so that we may possibly answer any questions in advance. Notices will include any updates available from each of our departments.
Essential staff in all departments have been called in to assist our citizens as necessary and based upon need and safety for all.
For those who may have evacuated to Smithfield from Emerald Isle, the Emerald Isle Bridge will open for re-entry at 1pm to today for Permit Holders only.
All power outages have been restored. We believe we are fully-functioning, but understand there may be some outages that are serviced by Duke Progress. For any Utility outages or concerns, please call 919-934-1117. All outages will be addressed as quickly as possible and as safety allows.
All operations are currently normal. All necessary precautions have been taken. The Neuse River has risen to 18.4 feet. The current prediction is the river will crest at approximately 20 feet this evening. This should not compromise operations or safety. For any Utility outages or concerns, please call 919-934-1117.
Safety and Emergency Services:
For any emergencies, please call 911.
Trash and yard debris services for Friday were moved to this coming Wednesday. However, we may experience some delays as crews may have to modify their schedule to adhere to emergency issues should they arise. The Convenience Site Center at 231 Hospital Road will be closed on Saturday, Sept. 15th. Please continue to secure all rollout containers to keep them from blowing away and getting lost.
Parks & Recreation:
The Greenway has been closed until further notice due to flooding. The Smithfield Recreation and Aquatic Center is expected to re-open at 8am on Monday.
Johnston County Schools and Neuse Charter School are scheduled to be closed until further notice.
There is no curfew in effect for the Town of Smithfield.
