Smithfield to Host Free Independence Day Celebration on July 3rd
05/19/2025

The Town of Smithfield will host a star-spangled evening of free family fun on Thursday, July 3rd, in celebration of Independence Day. The festivities will take place from 5:00 to 10:00 PM at the Neuse River Amphitheater, promising a packed lineup of entertainment, food, and fireworks.

The evening kicks off with live music performances from two local favorites—The WEJ at 5:30 PM, followed by DNRat 7:30 PM. Both bands will bring high-energy performances to the stage, providing the perfect backdrop for a night of patriotic celebration.

A Watermelon Social will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the historic Hastings House, where guests can enjoy free slices of farm-fresh watermelon, courtesy of WI Wellons & Sons of Princeton.

Children will find plenty of excitement in the Firecracker Fun Zone, featuring inflatables and games—all free of charge. Meanwhile, a selection of local food trucks will be on-site, serving up a variety of festival favorites to satisfy every craving.

The celebration will conclude with a spectacular fireworks finale at 9:05 PM, lighting up the night sky over the Neuse River.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and the whole family for this hometown celebration of freedom and community spirit. The event is presented with generous support from Bright Leaf Hot Dogs.
