Third StrEATery Expand to Every Friday and Saturday night in October

The Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation (DSDC) has announced its plans to expand the Third StrEATery dates to include Fridays and Saturdays through October 30.

Open from 6-9:30 p.m. each Friday and Saturday, the Third StrEATery, Downtown Smithfield’s Outside Dining Room, offers live music and socially distanced seating to encourage people to enjoy takeout from the downtown restaurants and visit downtown businesses.  The 100 block of S. Third Street will be closed to allow the addition of tables and chairs.

The Third StrEATery first opened on October 2 with music from Wright of Way, a duo featuring a keyboard player and bass guitarist.  Upcoming performances include:

October 9 – Petals String Duo, Violin and Cello

October 10 – Alex Williams, Guitar/Keyboard/Vocals

October 16 – Charles Newkirk, Jazz Guitar

October 17 – Footnotes, a local Jazz Trio featuring Dr. Jess Pittard on Piano, Ned Attayek on Guitar, & Wingate Lassiter on Bass

October 23 – Nate Brown, Steel Drum

October 24 – Serenading & Saxie, Saxophone

October 30 – Casey T. Cotton – The Piano Man, Piano and Vocals

“We have had a lot of interest in the Third StrEATery,” stated Sarah Edwards, Executive Director of the Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation.  “Since we haven’t been able to host our events as normal this year, we saw the Third StrEATery as a way to enhance the atmosphere downtown to encourage people to support our downtown businesses.”

In order to ensure the health and safety of everyone involved, and in accordance with the State’s current guidance, all attendees will be asked to wear a mask unless seated, to maintain social distancing requirements and to sanitize their hands at the provided touchless, automatic hand sanitizing stations provided by the DSDC.
