WEEKEND IN SMITHFIELD!
ghouls, and goblins are coming out in Downtown Smithfield! Get your
costume and join us on Friday, October 18 for our first Brews and
Boos! We're celebrating with a drink specials, a costume contest,
delicious food, live music, and a free shuttle between Little Brown Jug, Mucho Mexico, Saddle Up Saloon, Simple Twist, Simple Twist Taproom, and SoDoSoPa!
Premium Outlets, along with the Clayton General Store in Smithfield,
are hosting a 3-day Fall Festival beginning TOMORROW! All 3 days,
enjoy a Fall Harvest Market where you and your family will be able to
get your pumpkins , mums, corn stalks, wheat straw and other outdoor
decor. Plus, food trucks each day, outdoor movies Friday and Saturday
nights and a Trunk or Treat and dog costume parade on Sunday. See a

Movie in the Park
to Smithfield Community Park Saturday night for a FREE showing of
"Hotel Transylvania" beginning at 6:30pm. Our concession
stand will be open with great snacks or feel free to bring your own
little picnic with you.

their First Annual Halloween Festival! There will be free food,
games, pumpkin carving, costume contests, face painting, hay rides
and a whole lot more!
Club Annual Pancake Dinner
Club of Smithfield will hold their annual Pancake Dinner next Tuesday,
October 22nd from 5-8pm at Centenary United Methodist Church.
Eat-in and take-out is available as well as drive-thru service!
Tickets are $7. Centenary United Methodist Church is located at the
corner of Second and Market Streets in downtown Smithfield.
Ghost Walk October 24th
characters from Johnston County’s past will be brought back to life Thursday,
October 24 during the Johnston County Heritage Center’s 15th
annual Ghost Walk in Smithfield’s historic Riverside Cemetery. The
event is sponsored in part by the Johnston County Visitors Bureau and
the Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation. It will begin at
6:30pm at the corner of Church and Second streets beside St. Paul’s
line-up includes Sarah Stallings, a founder of Clayton (portrayed by
NC Rep. Donna M. White of Clayton); Polly Alford, a 19th century
Smithfield restauranteur (portrayed by Sequilla Arita of Seven
Springs) ; Robert F. Smith, a pioneer Benson businessman who was also
a pioneer bicyclist (portrayed by Matt Dean of Archer Lodge); Ensign
Edwin S. Pou, a World War I flying ace (portrayed by Bennett Chapman
of Cary); and Lt. Hardy Donnell Narron, a World War II bomber pilot
(portrayed by Dylan Atwood of Mount Olive).

each ghost character. The tour concludes with refreshments at the
historic Hastings House, where Confederate generals were
headquartered at the end of the Civil War.

October 25th at Smithfield-Selma High School is Football, Cheer, and
Band Alumni Night. All alumni will be recognized at the game. We'll
also celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Night. All fans are encouraged
to wear blue and yellow and someone very special will be
participating in the coin toss that evening.

Smithfield Elementary School will hold their Fall Festival on October 26th from
10am-1pm. You and your family will enjoy face painting, bounce
houses, a photo booth and other games. Plus, pizza, ice cream, chips
and drinks will be available. Wristbands for games will be $5 per

7am-2pm. Join them for a 5K run, costume
parade and contest and more.
Basketball Registration ends Friday, October 18th for boys ages 5-15
and girls ages 5-12. (Players' age as of December 31, 2019 determines
playing age.) The cost is $25 for Smithfield residents and $50 for
non-residents. Practices will begin in late November and games begin
in January. Register TODAY!
Council Meeting moved for Election Day
Election Day, our regularly scheduled Town Council session has been
moved from November 5th to November 12th at 7:00pm. We encourage all
citizens to exercise your right to vote!
