FAQs
The Smithfield Recreation and Aquatics Center (SRAC) in
Smithfield, NC is the first of its kind in Johnston County. It is a
joint venture between Johnston County Schools and the Town of
Smithfield. This partnership, which came into play in 2001 has resulted
in the construction of a 71,000 square-foot facility that opened in
2009.
The two organizations, seeing a need for additional recreational,
leisure, and physical education in Smithfield and Johnston County
decided it would be more beneficial to build, operate and use a facility
together, rather than duplicating services, equipment and facilities.
The Center, which benefits students, residents of Smithfield and
surrounding Johnston County, is a state of-the-art facility that offers
indoor recreation and aquatics programs for all ages, year round. SRAC
